title: "Long term planning? Who needs that? I-in games ofc…"

Today, I came to understand my preferences for strategy games involving resources.

I like games like Factorio (not played yet) or Endfield, but I do not like games like Sid Meier's Civ games or, as of recent, Slipways. To be more precise, I dislike the latter because I suck at them. Both types of games require long-term planning but the latter are concerned more with compounding accumulation of resources.

Suppose I think of plan A to increase production of resource A. Then I see an oportunity and create another plan (B) that hinders plan A but has a modifier for resource A. Sometimes it gets so entangled in my head that I forget about plan A and realize it after a long time. Yay!

So… my decisions (almost always) end horribly. To be frank though, sometimes it's just my lack of knowledge about games mechanics that bite me in the ass.

Also, ironically, when a game has option to revert my decision(s), I end up over-think a plan even more, which then leads to more mistakes or wrong (non-optimal) moves 😅 So instead of making smart moves to optimize and accumulate resources I only create small [happy accidents](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCsO56kWwTc) (leading to my demise 😭).

Remember dear reader — make your brain hurt so you don't get stupider. Not literally ofc.
